Electrolysis for Ingrown Hairs

Regain your confidence

INGROWN HAIRS

Ingrown hairs are caused when a hair reaches the surface of the skin and it either curls back into the skin or starts to grow sideways. They are usually more prominent in people that have curly or frizzy hair. Many times ingrowns will cause what is known as "razor bumps" or "folliculitis". Ingrown hairs usually occur in areas that have been shaved or waxed such as the under arms, pubic area, beard or legs. If left untreated, they most likely will begin to leave permanent dark spots and scars on the skin.

As a NYS licensed esthetician and certified electrologist, Diane will remove the excessive hair growth as well as the ingrown hairs which if not removed will most likely lead to a pimple, cyst, possibly an infection or permanent scarring. Diane will then discuss with you the precautions you can take as part of a home care procedure which will also help to eliminate clogged pores and ingrown hairs

RAZOR BUMPS & FOLLICULITIS

Folliculitis is basically an infection in the hair follicle. It appears as scattered pinpoint reddish bumps on the skin, sometimes with a bit of puss or other time just simple reddish bumps. Folliculitis affects people of all ages, ranging from infancy through the senior years and it is mostly found on the buttocks, chest, legs and the back. Folliculitis can be caused by many things, some of them are sweating, makeup, clogged follicles, tight clothing and can appear anywhere on the body where you have hair follicles. Sometimes folliculitis will disappear on its own, however other times it may need treatment. Feel free to call Diane with any questions you may have.

Razor Bumps are also know as Pseudofollicultis Barbae, and usually appears in areas of the body that you have either tweezed, waxed or shaved. Although anyone can be prone to razor bumps, they are very prevalent in African Americans. They can be painful, as well as unsightly. Diane specializes in treating razor bumps and ingrown hairs by freeing the trapped hair from the skin. This in turn, unclogs the follicle and the pimple or cyst which may have accompanied this razor bump and trapped hair begins to diminish. This does not eliminate any future razor bumps, but Diane can give you some ideas on how you might prevent or lessen future outbreaks of this problem.

For best results, electrolysis should always be performed under an INTENSE MAGNIFYING LAMP with bright light backing it up in order to obtain the correct angle and proper reflection of all hairs, light or dark, straight or curved. The permanent results of the hair removal is totally based on the accuracy of the probe insertion, targeting the root of the hair. Diane works with an 8 and 5 diaptor lamp magnification lamp, backed up with fluorescent lighting which allows her to see even the lightest of hairs and the angle at which they protrude from the skin. This magnification and lighting is of utmost importance in achieving final, but more importantly PERMANENT results.

Call Diane now and set up a free consultation where you can ask all of your questions, and discuss your individual treatment plan should you decide to proceed. The consultation is completely free and Diane looks forward to helping you to move on to a more secure, confident and happier you!

Well worth the investment! I
...
I am a woman of color. I have struggled with ingrown hairs on my face, chin and neck for many years. I finally realized that my tweezing, cutting, and waxing were causing ingrown hairs that were scarring my face. I finally decided to see a dermatologist who said there was nothing she could do but referred me to Electrolysis by Diane in Rye Brook NY. She advised me tht she and her associate doctors had been referring patients to Diane for many years and were very confident in her practice. I called Diane and she offered me a complimentary consultation at which time she explained the process of electrolysis and all of the causes of my ingrown hair. I was so upset because my face was being scarred over the years and it was only getting worse. I started treatment with Dianeand I already see an improvement, not only in the dark spots and ingrown hairs, but the hairs are becoming less and less, and much lighter and finer.
I am so happy about this and as soon as this is complete I am hoping to start treatment on my upper lip and underarms.
